After the huge success of the Office suite apps for iPad (which had been downloaded 40 million times from the app store), Microsoft has now released the apps free for iPhone, where the users will be able to create or edit any of the Office documents for free. The suite consists of the most famous Office apps- Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
You can also store the documents that you have created or edited using the Office suit apps in the cloud for free. For this, Microsoft had announced a strategic partnership with Dropbox. During the launch event, Microsoft’s head of Office marketing, Michael Atalla said, “It’s an extension of the strategy that we’ve got”. He also added, “It’s an extension of the strategy that we’ve got. We’re taking that same user experience we provide online to the native apps of iOS and Android. We want to make sure that our customers can be productive across all the devices they have.” “There’s still premium value that we’ll add on top of that. There will still be subscription value, most clearly and easily identifiable in the commercial space, but also in the consumer space around advanced authoring, analysis, presentation, and unlimited storage with OneDrive”, said Atalla. Microsoft had also released the preview version of Office suite for Android, in the same event. The app for Android will be however, available only for tablets users who will have to sign up in advance to get it.
The Office apps are compatible only in iPhone 5 or later versions, and the devices should have the OS version of iOS 7 or later.
